Bio

Jiaqi Chen is a Ph.D. student in the Department of History of Art & Architecture at the University of California, Santa Barbara, specializing in twentieth-century architecture with a focus on China. He is a current recipient of the Chancellor’s Fellowship. Prior to enrolling at UCSB, Jiaqi worked for the Department of Traditional Architecture at the Chengdu Archaeology Institute where he participated in two research projects on vernacular building techniques in southwestern China, the design and construction of the Database Management System of Cultural Heritage on Mount Emei, and several preservation plans for historical sites. Jiaqi received his M.Eng. in Architectural History and Theory and B.Arch. from the School of Architecture at Southeast University in 2020 and 2017 respectively. His research on traditional Chinese architecture terminology has been presented at the ATTCAT and Architectura Sinica Link opens an external site.
